Course information

The Certificate IV in Mental Health course has been designed to reflect the role of mental health workers who provide self-directed, recovery-oriented support to those affected by mental illness and psychiatric disability. This course will allow graduates to implement community-based programs and activities focusing on mental health, mental illness and psychiatric disability.

Students Who Successfully Complete this Qualification Can Work in the Following Occupations:

Entry Requirements

Completion of grades 10-12 or equivalent
Demonstrate a satisfactory level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) abilities.
Must be able to obtain a federal police check
Students may need a COVID-19 vaccine to begin work placement

Work Placement

If under 18 years of age, you must have a Department of Education (DoE) Notice of Arrangement (please contact our office for further information regarding this requirement),
Not currently attending school
Unemployed,
You live in WA,
An Australian citizen; or
A permanent visa holder or holder of visa subclass 309, 444, 785, 790, 820;
A dependent or spouse of the primary holder of a visa subclass 457; or
A bridging visa E holder (subclasses 050 and 051) and you have made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790.

Course Duration

The Certificate IV in Mental Health course is delivered over a period of 6 full-time or 8 months part-time.

80 hours of Industry Placement – organized by Sero Institute on your behalf
